KRU STEPHANIE ESSENSA

In 2003, at the age of 16, I began working at Arashi-Do at the front desk. It was only a matter of days before I was on the mat myself, training in kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Several months later, I was also training in MMA.

In 2006, I took my first amateur kickboxing fight, winning by unanimous decision in a hostile crowd. I was hooked. During 2008, I travelled to Thailand for the first time and trained there for about a month. I also had my first amateur MMA bout that year. In December, I achieved my Black Prajied ranking in Muay Thai.

In 2009, I won the CMTC-A B Class National Title at 118lbs for Muay Thai. In 2010, I won the CMTC-A A Class National Title at 118lbs for Muay Thai. That year, I went to Thailand to compete in World’s, where I placed in the top 8 against some stiff competition. In 2011, I won the Mach-1 Tournament Championship, defeating two opponents in one night. It was one of my favorite events to have participated in.

In 2012, I won the CMTC-A A Class National Title at 125lbs for Muay Thai. I currently hold a record of 12-1 in Muay Thai and 4-0 in MMA. My next step is make the jump into Professional MMA.
